Title: The Red Ranger is going to ride again FINAL UPDATE for now..........
Post by: harris92 on November 12, 2015, 01:41:32 PM
I picked up this Burnt Orange "Red" Ranger a couple months ago.  It was really cool but needed some work.  Well, the cart is almost finished.  I still have to put on the back brace.  Rust, a couple holes, weathering and wheel all handled.

Cleaned, rust neutralized, two holes patched, sanded, painted, NOS handles, AND a vintage 8" steel "Weber" wheel.

After:

Still working on the lid and bowl.  When finished, I will share more pics and the cool story behind this grill

@TexasOnion   No,  not the same one.  Mine is from upstate NY.  It was not advertised for sale.  The one in Fargo was in better condition.  This one is looking nice too....

Very, very cool man.  Is that orange wall wheel stock or a reinterpretation of your own design?  Either way, it's really sharp, compliments the handles beautifully.

@Santo   The wheel is a vintage 8" white wall steel wheel from a Weber grill.  I had some paint mixed to match the handle and painted the white wall.

Awesome work @harris92!  Such a cool grill.

Did someone get the one in Fargo?  I hadn't heard about it until now.

Just re-read the first post.  How in creation did you find a pair of NOS grips?  Nice restore.  Looking forward to hearing the backstory.

Wow, that is one hell of a job!  Very nicely done.  What was the process for restoring the wheel?

@MikeRocksTheRed
The wheel is an 8" steel wheel originally from a 1960's Weber.  I just shined it up and painted the white wall to match the handles. :)
