Title: Performer Handle
Post by: javahog2002 on February 11, 2013, 10:08:35 PM
So when my wife found my free SS Performer.  The only issue this unit had was no handle.  Cooked a few times without a handle.   :)

I have been looking for a sacrificial Black Lid from a OTS.  Missed out on the $5.00 unit in Boulder CL.  Still looking for a OTS to use the lid.

Any other ideas ???

Hey Chad, I think he needs the metal part. I think in another thread Javahog says that is a garage door handle.

Hey Javahog, did you burn yourself the few times you cooked with no handle?

What you have looks functional.  You could try a donor side handle from a kettle and screw that on much like you did with the garage door handle (check out the pic in this post... http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/lime-green-stalking!/45/).  This would allow you to add a plastic or wood handle.  Then you could add a lid thermometer much like the newer Performers or current OTGs have.

Hey Java, you could just bolt a regular metal handle on it. Then add a wood or plastic one to it. I have one if you need one. Just pm me.

The weber fireplace handle brackets should work in a pinch.

Actually isn't the ss performer lid handle the taller style to fit the thermometer and heatshield?
