Gooder than new, great job!
Just did same grill only black . Thought about replacing wood & doing just what you did. Painted slats red instead.
Yours is very nice
Nice job!
great job. I love those old red heads!
Looks great with the red kettle. Nice work on the restore!
All of these beautiful restorations make me wish I had the space for a Genesis.
Looks great. Very nice restore

@Cochise Nice work! Is that the original wood refinished or did you replace it? What type of wood did you use if it's replacement?
Great restore to a great and classic cooker.
@Santo Wood was actually just replaced with construction excavation stakes from Home Depot. $3.99 a pack roughly. Cut them to lengh , stained them and sprayed with Helmsman Spar Urethane in gloss. The handle was just and extra piece of pine my stepfather had in his shed, that was cut to size, routered, stained and sanded and hit with Helmsman. Pretty sure stain was the pecan color.
@Cochise Pretty ingenious and they look good. Again, we'll done, Sir
@Mozfan00 Grill was completely stripped down and porcelin lid removed.
Fire box was oven cleanered and power washed.
Aircraft grade paint remover was used on lid sides(VERY NASTY
SHIT...GLOVES, SKIN AND EYE PROTECTION ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST).
Box exterior and sides sanded, wiped with acetone, dried outside then painted with Rustoleum high heat in flat black.
Porcelain lid and manifold cover washed then polished with soft scrub then washed again.
Burner tubes replaced, regulator replaced and ignitor replaced. Swapped out some hardware( nuts, bolts etc.)
Flavorizer bars and grill grates hit with wire wheel on corded drill, washed off and wiped with bacon grease.
All wood replaced with new. Cart itself was in good condition and just cleaned.
Sweet! You put the love and care into this bad boy as it deserves.
Thanks for the tutorial. You really spent some serious time on this

With what do you clean the lid
I have a junior red still not really got the lid clean?
Give my a hint
It's a nice Weber life in the mountains
@webersalzburg you can just use steel wool on the red porcelain. 0000 will take out any accumulated build up and really make it shine. Can use a heavier grade for anything that's really stuck on or nasty.
Wow, great job, that looks amazing!!
@webersalzburg Bab-o Easy Scrub or Soft Scrub with a sponge
