Title: New Ranch!
Post by: 1911Ron on July 02, 2015, 08:33:33 PM
During a conversation with the Wife about the 26" Kettle and where you could get a Ranch from and whether you could order a Ranch and what they cost, looked it up and the Wife said "order it" yes ma'am!
A few observations, one is while building it do not tighten any of the frame bolts and nuts, it will help with lining up the mounting holes in the bowl and the frame! Second the charcoal grate just sits in the bowl as there is no grate straps or rests to keep it from sliding around, the food grate sits in a ridge at the top of the bowl.
It showed up around the first part of June, between weather, work schedule and life in general it finally was finished today.

The box! HEAVY!  :o ::)

Nice - fire her up this weekend and take some pictures!

If there's anything I know about marriage (and that's not a lot) if the wife says "order it" you do so immediately.......... and then get 3 types of indisputable proof of the exact statement so that when your item shows up on your door step you're covered.

Ron, (I'm not 100% sure about this), but I think you and I are the only two guys in the club who bought our Ranch Kettle brand new out of a box? (I bought all my Webers brand new). I love my Ranch Kettle and it would be the very last Weber I would ever part with if I had to narrow it down to one. You can cook or smoke anything on one of these (and you will). I can't ever go back to cooking on a small 22.5 grill now. (It's like going back to a standard size TV after watching a giant 65" flat screen for the past 6 months.)

Be sure to mount a light on the handle for those night time cooks. It works great for me (see link below).

Awesome Ron and welcome to the club and a big yes to the light ramsfan suggested it works grate
Golly,  evsky, and myself are working on side tables for ours.
The no straps for the charcoal grate is something to watch out for if you load up one side with charcoal
but I'm sure you'll work it out
Congrats again they are an awesome grill

Neither the Golly / Hogsy team or Prof. & that bunch waste any time fiddling around.....

Both have found metalworking partners that make wild stuff happen.....

congats,    this is the first kettle i ever looked at.  how ever with a afamily of 4, i decided it was a bit of an overkill.  i ended up with a 22 in mastertouch in green.

Short answer yes, longer answer you have a lot of space to do bigger cuts of meat or multiple cuts of meat, you can set up different heat zones to do high medium and low.  The possibilities are endless!
