Title: Cleaned up the bottom half at least (UPDATED)
Post by: Nate on May 16, 2015, 10:58:07 AM
Started to clean up the 26 I picked up a few weeks ago. A couple hours and the bottom half is done for me. Straightened out one of the handles that was bent too. Now for the lid.

Looks great. How bad was the triangle when you started? It looks great now-like brand new

That late model Fleetwood is coming along nicely!

@jkolantern  The triangle was mostly just tarnished, with some rust  spots here and there. Nothing steel wool and a wire brush couldn't take care of. You can see the triangle here.

Nice work so far. Is that a 22" triangle?

@mwmac, it is different than yours but it's a 26" triangle. I have 2 22" kettles and it's completely different.  Don't know if the 1999s were different or if I just got an oddball one that didnt get the small innermost triangle welded on.

The inside of the lid sure was a PIA to try and clean so I scape off what I could, and said that's good enough. I use this thing anyways. Straightened out the lid handle that was all jacked up and decided to throw on the slide aside from the 22 I had laying around. Had to bend the hangers to fit the bowl. I'll see if it's worth keeping on.

I'm also interested in how the slide-aside works here. I'll have my 26 next month.
