Today on the way home I noticed one of my neighbors set out some 'trash' including a Weber grill. looks like a mid to late 70's. However, there is no lid. I am pretty sure they kept it for a fire pit. I plan to go back and ask about it this weekend.
How should I go about asking for the lid? If I had a spare orphan lid I would off to trade and I am sure there would be no problem. I know they most likely want to keep it for the fire pit as most people around here use old grill covers for this purpose.
Anyway, here it is. Bowl is in good shape, just missing the daisy wheel vents. You can see one in the ash pan.

I'd offer them a spare lid off a beater, or find a cheap one on Craig's list and give the lid from that one.

I dont have a beater to pull one off of and nothing on craigslist around here. Atleast cheap anyway.

Make it into an ice bucket and put your beer in it.
Cut it up to make fender flares for your stanced ricer.
Make a cool shop light
Get some sticks and join a Jamaican percussion band
Make a chair!

Hehehe, you guys so funny. I know it doesnt look pretty, but it is a very solid bowl. No wobble and only a bit of surface rust. I did visit the former owner this morning and the lid has a big crease in the edge so it will not work on the grill again. Oh well, I do see a new fire pit coming up soon! Also it has a newer flip top grate.

How bad a crease can't be hugged back into place? Rubber mallet and 2x4 have been known to work wonders

It is a very sharp crease so, no it cant be hugged back. I am ok with it. I have an old bowl I was going to make into a fire pit that didnt even have leg sockets any more. This will actually be much easier.
