Title: In need of a light for my Performer grill
Post by: Sramsey on February 11, 2015, 08:30:02 AM
Any suggestion? I have seen some small ones, but hate to buy and find it does not give off a lot of light. I have one for my gasser by Weber and I love that.
I have a Performer so i assume i would look for one that has some kind of mount.

As much as I would like a nice battery powered LED light mounted to my Performer for my grilling, I find myself using a headlamp instead.  It has several advantages:  1 lamp for multiple kettles, I can use it to fill my charcoal in the dark, and it is very useful for many other uses besides grilling.  Because it is always focused where you are looking, it works really well for what I do.  For about $20, you can't go wrong.

I second the headlamp, it's one of the best tools I have - grill related or not.

I've got this light, that has served me well.  I bought it online years ago.  It looks like it would be easy (and cheap) to make with parts from a hardware store.  PVC bits and outdoor lighting bits.

The base is heavy, not sure what it is made out of.  That is the part that you might need to get creative with.

I've usually got enough outdoor lighting at the house for all my needs, but at a competition, you never know what conditions you may be cooking under, so I'm with Winz on the headlamp.

I have LED rope lights I string up around my popups, and I've had these LED BBQ lights (sorry about the pics) for a few years and they also work great.

I think they are Perfect Flame, and I got them at bLowes. Strong dual magnet and screw clamp base keeps them secure. 2 AA battery.

Use them with my Backwoods and they provide a lot of illumination.

head lamps are Numero Uno

I also went to lowes and bought a few battery operated snake neck lights with magnets I can put anywhere and bent to shine where ever.

Its true, but buckie can cook by smell and feel.  A true grill whisperer if I have ever seen one...
