Title: Red SS Non gas rescue
Post by: 1911Ron on October 05, 2014, 02:27:08 PM
On Fri. i rescued a SS Non Gas Redhead on CL, it had been up for a few days when i saw it, i made contact and arranged to pick it up.
I called to get directions and head out, the guy says to call him when i get there, so when i get there he says it's on the side of the house and to leave the money under the front mat as he wasn't there!  I look it over and try to turn the sweeper arm and it's frozen, i take the pan off to look it over and it's full of water and ash!

A quick peek shows a rust bar and thumbscrew, i look inside and there is no sweeper arms! I call him back and i ask if he would take $80 (original price $125) as i explain the issues with it, he accepted, i loaded it up put the money under the mat and i headed home!
The cart and the kettle are in good shape so i just have to get the old sweeper arms (whats left of it!) and put the replacement ring and sweeper i have.

Does anything go here?

That's a really nice looking redhead. Looks to be in great condition especially for it's age
As to your question "Does anything go here?"
Firelighters, Matchlight, Thermapen

Wow, great bowl and lid. Your OT looks like something I had to cut off my (N) Gray SS Performer I picked up recently. Except I had at least one sweeper arm left, but no sweeper handle. Are you going to turn this into a possible gas assist for MOD month?

Nothing goes there. If it was a gas assist, that tray would be gone and in its place would be a cover for the propane tank with an igniter. The only other difference is it would have casters on it. If you have a perfect lid and bowl, you truly have a rare grill.
Fix er up!

Ron I am so glad that you grabbed that one!
Isn't it the ad that said it comes with a "trash can"?
