What alternatives are there for when applying a texas crutch to your rib?
I usually use honey, sugar and Parkway butter but I have no honey in.
What else have the mighty fine folk of wkc used when applying the crutch?
a little bit of apple cider or apple juice or apple cider vinegar (smallest amount to use would be the A. C. vinegar, as it's pretty tart)..............
Cheers, buckie! I went with apple juice.
I didn't know that cider (the alcoholic variety) could be used. I'll certainly try it next time though.
I usually use cider, brown sugar, and agaver nectar
Agave is good. use more sparingly than honey.
also, peach nectar is good, use in place of apple juice.
i have heard of people using pie filling (flavor of your choice, peach, cherry or blueberry) if you're looking for a really wet and sweet rib.

^^^^^these are good ideas also Thomas.......here's a slightly different way to go about it with blueberry :

There's a tad more info also on the front page currently about those......
Cheers lads!
I do maple syrup, stick butter (cut 1 stick in half and then break those halves into chunks, one set up chunks goes on bottom and one on top), and usually Apple Juice. I think the stick butter gives things a little richer flavor than the parkay.
Cheers john!
Coukd a mod change the title to say 'Texas' rather than 'Texts' - bloody phone!
