Title: Messing around on the Smokey Joe tonight - New York steak
Post by: AZ Monsoon on August 27, 2014, 06:57:07 PM
My wife grabbed one of those Labor Day steak packs from the local grocery store today, so I thought I would play around with the Smokey Joe Silver tonight. After pulling out the grill from the place in the yard wear toys go to die, I gave it a good scrubbing, and got to work.

I thought I would try a new method tonight which didn't go as well as planned. My thinking was since the steak was only 1" thick, I would keep it in the fridge until putting on the grill in the hopes that I would be able to sear the outside more while keeping a medium rare center..... Nope. It turned out medium, but was still tasty.

The only side tonight was a blue cheese garden salad.

Looks damn good!
I like to grill steaks on a blazing hot SJ.

Lots of charcoal. I use my SJ often; great little grill.

Nice looking coals there!

I love the smell of a evening cook...

I have been thinking lately that putting a sear on piece of meat is alot easier on my Smokey Joe and Jumbo Joe.  These little cookers are not just for camping and tailgating.
