This belongs to an older cousin of mine. No, he doesn't want to get rid of it, although if I asked him for it he'd give it to me - he's that kind of guy. I think I'm gonna clean 'er up for him. The inside looks a bit worse than the outside. Cool color though.

Nice Lime! Looks like she's got some stories to tell. ;D
Thanks for sharing, can not wait to see it cleaned up and re assembled properly. The limes are wonderful pieces.
Cool Limey!! Show us some more pics of it. Look forward to seeing it all shined up.
Great find Stu - I bet if you replace the handle, clean up or replace the leg set and slap on the correct ash pan it would come right back to life. Keep us posted!
THat will clean up nicely Stu. A few age spots but plenty of life left in it.
I've got a set of leg replacements if you want them.
Definately worthy of any effort to Tex it up.
First off, wow, thank you, fedex. I never saw this. Very nice of you.

I finally got around to stopping by my cousin's place and grabbing his kettle. The first thing I did was toss the nasty....errrr....well-used grates. I spent a better part of the day scrubbing the inside of the kettle and lid. They're not in like new condition, but in what I'd call "pretty damn clean" condition. I replaced the legs with the ones off of the kettle I used on my recent fire pit project (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/kettle-fire-pit/). They were in better shape than the original, but the triangle and legs still needed a bit of a washing and SOS pad treatment. My favorite thing I did was bend the handle back into shape and installed a beautiful dark brown handle I bought from Brian. Last, went to Ace Hardware and got top and bottom grates, an ash pan and a rubber tip for the front leg. I would have preferred a era-correct ash catcher, but I haven't really come across one in that good of shape.
OK! Here's some pics...

At the end of the day, most of the people will rave about the color and not care about the updated parts.
The old pastel colors really pop with the addition of one of Brian's dark wood handles.
Many years of life to go.. Nice work..

Love it....
Lovely Limey! This makes me want to change my blonde handle on my Cado to a walnut. AJ is right, the dark Zavdles really make the Limes, Yellows and Cados pop! Nice work!
Nice rescue, looks great!

Looks Great! It has another 25 years till the next clean up.
