Title: Grey M code Refurb
Post by: Dale Benson on July 23, 2014, 05:19:28 PM
We've been driving past this one on our way to the cabin since who knows when. Doreen says, "Hey, that looks like a grey one!", but we shrug it off thinking it's like 99% of all the other old faded black ones that have fooled us in the past. Next time driving by we take a closer look and realize that maybe this is the real thing. I swing and chat with the old guy. He says, "If I sold it I wouldn't have a 'back-up' for that one." (referring to a gasser on his deck). So a couple weeks later I swing in on our way to the cabin and offer him a trade for the only thing I had available - a black MBH that had cleaned up nicely. He points to it and smiles and says, "An even-up trade for THAT? Why it looks almost new!". Deal done.

Here's the black MBH that I traded, along side the grey M code:

Original ash sweep. (kidding  ;))

All original except Brian handles and new 7409 ash sweep and leg cap. I still need to find and ash pan for it. Also, I think darker handles might look nice. I may have to purchase another set from Brian and try a darker stain this time.

Congrats and nice clean up. Put an H clip in there. You never know what might pop up that only the 7409 will fit in.

Nice rescue, and great story!

Is it just my imagination ... but, it seems as if a lot of greys are popping up in Minnesota.  ??? ???
