Title: Performer table protection
Post by: toddmog on May 15, 2014, 01:02:58 PM
I'd like to be able to put my gas go anywhere on my performer table when I do a quick hotdog cook for my boys.  What should I put down on the table to protect it from the heat of the WGA?

Maybe a rectangular cookie pan with a layer of foil. Should work.  :)

I'd probably use a cutting board .

All my cutting boards are plastic except the section of butcher block built into my counter top. I would think the cookie sheet with foil would still get hot. Maybe not hot enough to matter though.

The Go Anywhere has legs that raise it up several inches, yes? What do you do when on another surface?

In the past, I've always used it on concrete.  Even with the height of the legs, it still gets quite warm underneath.  Warmer than I'm comfortable with setting it on the plastic table.  Maybe I'm over thinking it, but I'd be very unhappy with myself if I melted or discolored the table on my 3 month old performer when I could have easily prevented it.

I understand. The tables are heat resistant. Somewhere there's probably a spec for it. Hell, call Weber and ask about these 2 products.

I've got a CGA. I set it on a stone paver. Seems to work fine...

Can you grill with the CGA on the performer grate?

How about a Jegs mat or similar?

A wrought iron plant trolly is another idea; of course you'd want one without wheels. With luck, the SJ's legs would wedge down into some of the nooks and crannies to become stable.
