I was fortunate to pick up a Seville yesterday.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/c3d52edee5a7f726b69449001fc396b1.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/c299c28cd0800e42fc669d00cf9ea6ee.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/897c49de8ef762ba02c17da0048ab9a5.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/962d9b7ca9ceed23048c9866d891c256.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/090291c6ed621be027253073b637a23c.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/ff2bce21025b947e310c13aa08420d39.jpg)
Now the fun begins.
It is all original and I got it from a very nice lady who's father had bought it brand new.
She hasn't used it in a few years as her and her husband have Weber gasser, but it was always well cared for.
Not quite sure what the plan is at this point. I'll give it a good cleaning and decide whether a full restoration is in order or whether it should show it's age.

So what do you do when you get a new grill? Fire it up of course.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160905/3075d16d7e749209c3bf4380b9bcdc92.jpg) striploins for dinner.

How did you know??? That's exactly what I was doing.

Nice find! Congrats!
-
That's awesome! Be careful bending the tabs back down. Might damage the porcelain.
-
Nice grill! I bet the girl walking by your fence wonders what's this guy taking piks of a grill for
-
Very nice!!
Looking forward to your restoration!
-
After thinking about it. This is not getting restored. It's going to get a good cleaning and that's it. It's too original to muck about with, and I'm liking the patina. Yeah, I'll clean some of the rustier bits, and respray with some Tremclad but this one needs to show its age gracefully.
After talking with the lady that sold it to me and learning the history behind the grill, it has earned respect. To restore, would remove that history.
I called her today asking about the other charcoal holder, as it only came with one. I told her I had cooked on it, and she was genuinely impressed. She told me that her dad would have been proud to see it fired up again.
-
The way it should be.

I got a can of gloss white tremclad today, and touched it up a bit. Looks a bit better than it did when I got it. I'm just wondering what to do with the tires, they're cracked but still solid. Would Armorall work to help.
-
@Darko I believe you can still buy them from Woodard company they are still in business check em out
-
We do have a source for new rear wheel rubber. It's not woodard. I don't have that link on my phone. I'll send it to you when I get home
-
http://www.djpatio.com/woodard.htm
Found it. In white and black. Wheels too.. cheers
-
What a classy gal!
-
Thanks. I'll be ordering a set, but at this time I'd like to rehab the originals as best I can.
-
Did you find it in Ontario? She must have been a rare beauty up here even when new...
-
Great find @Darko! The kettle is in pretty solid shape. I think I would leave it alone as well. Can't wait to see it with the cart touched up and the new wheels once you get them!
-
Congrats @Darko. She's a beauty.
As for the wheels, I personally dislike Armor-all. It leaves a greasy look and my understanding is that it does nothing to actually protect the rubber. I use 303 Protectant on all of my cars. It's meant for boats and is a UV protectant. Leaves a little bit of a shine, but it's a much more natural look than armor-all.

Here's the original thread where it all started;http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/trading-post/cado-seville-hamilton-on/

Yes. It was a few kilometers from my house. The lady that sold it to me... her father was the original owner.

Other than they're cracked, I'd like to keep them, just because the are the original tires.
-
Wow what a find!!!

@Darko- I agree with Neil_VT00. Use 303 Protectant. I have been using it on for over 10 years to protect the vinyl on my bass boat and jet ski. It will restore a rich black color to the tires without making them oily looking. I use it on all the plastic and fiberglass tables on Weber Performers.
-
Never heard of 303 fellas. I'll write that one down. Thank you.

That's a tremendous find right there..... :D :D :D
-
Does anyone make the charcoal rails for this one? It only came with one. You can see it in pic #5 laying on top of the grate.
-
Weber still makes those. Model #7402.
-
They're different.
-
Can you post some more pictures of the rail?
I have some old rusty ones, but I thought they were all the same.

There is no patent number on the vent. Can I assume this is 1967/1968?

100% agree, the old patina is where it's at for me....I love the original look

Beautiful Cado! And yes, the Seville was introduced in 1967, Avocado Green is FOR SURE available in 1968. Unconfirmed in 1967. Which would account for the rarity of pre PATENT standard Cado kettles with thumbscrews. The Seville and Sequoia lid vents followed the same pattern as the standard kettles of the day (pre pat, PAT PENDING, PAT # and so on...) Love this grill!
-
Oh and the misting pattern on the lid resembles the PAT PENDING era Cado models. This may favor 1968 more but I'm not 100% sure. Most of the pre pat thumbscrew Cados have a higher up the dome/thinner misting ring. Of corse for me, at the end of the day, the lid vent could say PAT McGroin and I'd still gladly cook on it. It's a Seville! Love em! Hope to get one someday!

Took me a minute. Really had me chuckling.

+1 on the patina.
Just clean it and stop the rust. What an awesome rig.

This I thought was interesting.
The Seville cost US$169.00 in 1967. In today's dollars that equates to US$1215.00
In Canada it was C $180.00. Today it would would be almost CDN$1600.00
-
Damn. I think I like those 67' prices better!
Hey Darko, let's see a full out cookout on the alpha and omega duo. That would make for a bad ass thread, man! No pressure, really, [emoji6]

Absolutely mindboggling. I'd be willing to bet that's why it's still around - It was someone's pride and joy and a huge investment.
At what point did consumers stop being willing to pay for quality?

Consumers will pay for quality. It's up to the manufacturers to provide it.
-
The top one is the one my welder made, the bottom one is the original

Congratulations. I can't imagine the excitement when you put it in your truck to get it home.
