Title: Sage green 2005 performer restoration
Post by: Antisven84 on July 06, 2016, 02:44:58 AM
Ok so 2 weekends ago this performer popped up for a great price so I treated myself to an early birthday present. It just so happened it's a pretty unique colour here in oz.
(http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r499/andrew_kelly3/9B7E766A-FE78-42C6-A1A6-26B81630545B_zpswjkxo8fw.jpg) (http://s1168.photobucket.com/user/andrew_kelly3/media/9B7E766A-FE78-42C6-A1A6-26B81630545B_zpswjkxo8fw.jpg.html)
It was in good condition with minor rust around the welds, totally grubby internally and generally neglected. In addition when I got home i noticed the gas assist brackets, all the bowl nuts and bolts, and the ash pan handles extremely rusty

Congrats, love the color.

It's a pretty unique color in the states as well. I've never seen a sage performer (aside from @zavod44's conversion), only sage one-touch platinums.

Man, great job cleaning it up!

If you're going black with the hardware, it might really be worth looking into the metal table upgrade, it'd look really sharp!

Nice job

@Antisven84 -  It looks like you had something cooking that was smelling so good you tried to take a bite of the handle since you didn't want to peek until it was done!!!

Too bad you couldn't have drilled out the stripped screw.  I have had to do that once.
Was able to save the handle, but I ended up going with wood, anyway.  Looks far better.

I'll see what I can do, my brother in law makes up wooden Weber work table clones on his spare time, shouldn't be hard to whip up, can use the platinums table as a template while I clean it up

heads up- the bolt pattern is different. the performer frame extends further out and pulls the mounting hole with with it.

Love everything about the job you did.  I'm especially a fan of the second generation's black frame.  Thinking the thing that would put it completely over the top and be one of my favs on the site would be the addition of the metal table.

Great job!
