Title: Interchangeable?
Post by: WhaleinaTeardrop on August 29, 2019, 06:47:38 PM
Does anyone know if the doors, lids and floor pans are interchangeable between these two generations of Genesis?

I picked up a set of Genesis Island Cabinetry last year for $125 and am looking to finally pick up the matching grill.  The older Genesis is readily available at really good prices and I’m curious as to whether I can mix and match if I get either a Stainless or one of the Special Edition grills in red, green, orange(?) or cocoa....

Looks like one has east/west burners and one has north/south. Other than that they look the same. I don't have that style of genesis, so I'm not sure, but its possible. You would think the parts you mentioned would be the same though. Maybe ask @Dave in KC he is the genesis expert for sure!

Lid and floor should be ok.  The doors will swap, however the magnetic clasp
may not be the same on each.  There were actually two different setups on
the clasps for the E/W.  One had the magnet on the door, the other had the
magnet on the cart. You may need to a little creative and engineer your own
type to hold the doors firmly in place.

Are you trying to integrate one of those grills into the cabinetry?
The front control is the only way to go as you can remove the
side shelves and the grill and lower cab will blend right in.

No; buying a stainless front control and it’s cheaper to buy a stainless side control for the doors and spare floor than to order from Weber.

Got it.
Was a bit fuzzy on your intent.
