This one took some time collecting parts and materials. This kettle had considerable fading on the lid. Leaves and mud in the charcoal bin and storage box. I scraped about 1/2 inch of soot and gunk out of the kettle. The dirtiest kettle I've ever worked on. Came out pretty nice!
-
Are you kidding pretty nice? I put that in my stable anytime! Damn nice job!!!
-
Great job Steve. That's a beautiful SS.

That looks great! Love that red Weber badge too.
searching for 1 18" straight lip twist ash pan.
-
Nice restore! Where did you get those white rubber bot. rack end plugs. I might have to steal that idea for my N-code Red SSP restore. Hopefully mine will turn out as nice as yours.
-
@greenweb Bottom end caps are made for wire shelving. The smallest they sell are a real snug fit. You can get them at any hardware store.
-
A job done well, sir!
-
@ SteveZ - Thanks! I like the look. I will be getting some.
-

@SteveZ - looks phenomenal! Love how the red Weber logo/plate looks. Grate job!!
-
Great job @SteveZ, the performer looks as good as new.
Did you use Pam on the lid?
-
The frame turned out great. Is that powder or did you paint it?
-
Beautiful job, @SteveZ
-
@Neil_VT00 I had another Red (P) Lid. The Fade on the lid that came with the kettle seems the be irreversible.
-
@AZ Monsoon I just primed with Rust restore primer and paint.
-
Wow. One hell of a job. You're making me considering tearing mine down to clean it get it looking like yours. Did you repaint the frame or did it just clean up that good? If you repainted, what did you use?
-
Very very nice..... will you come restore mine?
Would you mind taking a pic of the primer and paint for Mike and I?

This place is all about the exchange of information! That's what make this club great, the support of the members! I'm out there picking up tips every day.
Cheers
Steve

I got some white end plugs you mentioned to try out and noticed the rack or the shelving has 3 tabs on each side vs 2 on yours. Is mine newer version to support more weight ??? MIne is 1991 N-code. I did not noticed this before.
(http://pics.weberkettleclub.com/images/2017/01/26/IMG_33902.jpg)
-
Mines a P code which makes it 1993. I only have 2 on my 93 and my 99.
-
I love the red weber badge! How did you do that? A fine brush with a steady hand?

-
YES, What Troy1620 asked....
-
@Troy1620
@varekai
Sprayed the badge with red paint. While still wet wipe off raised areas with paper towel dampened with mineral spirits. Recoat and wipe again. Clear coat with clear paint. Before I started I wet sanded the raised areas with 400 grit sandpaper.
-
Well done! It looks fantastic! What was your trick for the ss table?

You should start a Weber/SSP restore business. A few guys around here could get into that. Amazing work.

@Troy1620
Trick for the table? Back to the 400 grit sandpaper and wet sanding with the grain. Some of the deeper scratches are still there.

Looks amazing. You have inspired me to clean up my performer!
