It was a big let down. :(  too much mesquite.  Threw half of them away.  Oh well... think I will stick with kbb for chicken...

Dude, mesquite should never go anywhere near chicken.  I use only fruit wood.  Today I'm using cherry and orange wood.  BTW, sorry if I'm hijacking......

Try apple, cherry, or my recent favorite on chicken is mulberry. I got some during one of the hurricanes that hit the east coast recently. Took a big branch out of one our trees.
