Nice looking 18. Date code?
-
Don’t have a date code.. it’s for sale on a local CL type site here in The Netherlands.
I never saw this color green here before.

Definitely looks different then this EE. I like it. Go get it @vwengguy

I didn't know the "old" green made it to the OTS models.
-
It's an early shade of green. Here is the best picture that I currently have my my N-Code.

@Craig knows a lot about how this color changed over time. Here's one of his green comparison shots comparing a 78 and 99.

Ja... that looks closer to it.
Does @Craig know if it gets lighter or darker?
I’m not in the market for a green.. it’s just the color caught my eye as not the normal hunter/forest green that I have seen before.

That's a rare shade of green, especially for an 18. I'd love to have that.
-
Over time the greens went from lighter to darker.
On a side note, you should go buy that grill @vwengguy
-
I refer to it as John Deere green (falls between forest green & kelly green). I believe that shade of green was from ‘78-‘86. The OTS sweep dates this as ‘83, or later.
Looks to be in great shape. I also think you should add it to your collection.

Hell ya, grab that baby up!!!..That's a beauty!!
-
It went real fast.. I guess someone else saw the color and wanted it.
I wasn’t really looking for one in that color but just spotted it as not a standard green.

Hi guys! Sorry I’ve not been as active lately as I’d like to be. That 18 is a sweet shade of green! Yes the “old” or early dark greens were lighter than the later-current greens. The color didn’t really darken to the really dark forest green until around 1995-1998 timeframe. I have greens ranging from 1978-1999 and believe me as @Neil_VT00 points out in the photo I took earlier, there is a big difference. That 18.5 from the OP should be at least 1983 (E code) or later.
-
Here’s mine... I’ve been meaning to do a dedicated topic to the green evolution. From left to right, 1978 18.5, 1978 22.5, 1993 P code Master Touch, 1999 EE code Master Touch. Not pictured is my 1981 C code green that I acquired shortly after this was taken. Funniest part is that the 1993 green is darker than 1978 but lighter than 1999 greens. The difference shows up so much more in person than on camera.

Here’s a picture of my 1981 Green (photo taken prior to my taking ownership) I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t gotten to take pictures of this green myself yet. It’s been a busy last month and a half. Thanks to memeber @Cellar2ful for passing this one along to me. More on this fine kettle later. Sorry I don’t mean to threadjack.
