Title: Late 60s Fleetwood
Post by: G on April 21, 2013, 07:02:22 PM
Im in the doghouse again....but its worth it.  I just acquired this 26" Patent Pending BAR-B-QUE Kettle today.  Seller said he got this from his father and that it has seen a lot of use over the years but it seems to have been well cared for and included a newer cooking and charcoal grate.  Should clean up nicely.

Great rescue. What's the date code? Can't wait to see the restored pics.

(Pay no attention to the number of my posts next to this one - although Hell Fire Grill may have been involved...)

thanks all....this was on a local CL listing.
@ Jeff- :o

@ Craig-They are metal wheels

@pbe-I thought it was painted at first but after a closer inspection, I dont think it is.  It appears that some of the enamel is worn away in areas causing the dull black look.

@ Duke-$40

There are also holes in the leg sockets where a thumbscrew would typically be but they look strange.  Im thinking this was a mod by the previous owner to cure wobbly legs.

Thanks Stu, $40 was my guess. You stole it! There isn't even ny rust around the top handle. :)

I think it'll look look pretty sharp once complete but its slated for a cooker.  If nothing else, I know a guy in the Chicago area that is into these older grills..... ;)

Well we do need to finalize a trade....and I would love that grill.........If yo picked up both these grills for the price of $40 for that 26 you would get a pretty good deal....

The weather was beautiful around these parts this weekend so I spent some time cleaning up this beauty.  I think someone took great care of this in its previous life.  No chips or rust anywhere on the lid/bowl.  The enamel is a little faded near the lid vent but not bad for almost 50 years old.  Im planning to fire up something on it for an inaugural cook this week.
