Found a OTS on CL for free today, I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning. This will also be my first restore, so I'm sure I'll be looking for some help along the way. I only got one pic, which I'll try to post here in a bit, but I'm still at work and can't upload to flickr and the like on this computer. I'll keep this thread updated, and hopefully I can get some help when need be. Thanks guys!

lookin forward to seeing it Midwest KC!

Can't wait to hear more about it. There is nothing like the thrill of chasing down a CL find. Especially when it's free!

Very cool! Keep us posted!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is an 18.5, right? I thought I read somewhere that the 22.5s handle points toward the vent, where the 18s run parallel. Anything else anyone can tell from the pic?
-
Looks clean....handle is roached.....for sure it's an 18
-
Nice score! I'm sure it will be happy in the hands of a grillfella. Unless the handle is on other side of the pic you might have a three wheeler there. Great find!

Pardon my newbness and ignorance, but what's a 3 wheeler?
-
It's a kettle with the three daisy wheels on the bottom for vents. Not the one touch system. Believe me it took me awhile to figure it out. I just didn't have the courage to ask.
-
Aaaaahhh...thanks. When did they start using the one touch system?
-
It could be either or, hard to tell by the one picture. The one touch system has been around for awhile, someone posted a commercial by weber that looked pretty old maybe from the 70s. But I learned not long ago they offered daisy wheels up into the late 90s. Either way I'm glad your giving it a new home! Can't wait to see more pics

So I picked it up this morning, and it is a 3 wheeler. A 97 model. I have some more pics, but won't be able to post them until tonight or tomorrow (same work issue as yesterday). The daisy wheels on the bottom are bent pretty bad, so hopefully I can bend them back alright. I'll definitely need new handles, as well as the ash pan. I'm hoping to save the grates if possible, but those may be replaced as well. I'm hoping to start cleaning it up tomorrow, so I'll post pics as I go.
