Title: Well it was a hell of a summer....
Post by: zavod44 on October 27, 2013, 07:10:42 PM
I was trying to put some of the kids to bed for the winter...and I saw what harbormaster had going so I figured I better get the family for a pic before the sun sets on the summer....once i started gathering them all up, there was quite a few grills in the yard....So here you guys go, here's the picture to show the wife so you can tell her "well at least I'm not this bad"

That is hardcore.  I can't help but notice a few plastic handles scattered about in that photo.  Kind of reminds me of the old saying that the shoemaker's kids have holes in their shoes!

Brian,  I need to print out this photo and keep it with me so when people start to think that my 6 grills are too much I can whoop out your pic and say, not really.

Impressive!  Thanks, I WILL be using this to show my wife!

I think you need some more black kettles.

I am, however, a little disapointed that you didn't get a dog in the photo......or is one there and lost in a kettle maze? :)

If you see the kettle pizza oven on the performer, I was actually baking some cookies when I was setting all these up, and a cookie fell on the deck so Lucy, snuck in the middle of all these and ate the cookie.  Then she was stuck in there, I had to rescue her....

I had the notion that I was gonna wipe them all down and make them pretty....after I wiped like four down, I said fuck it, they are going just as they are, dirty, grimy, missing ash pans and handles...

Z-
What an impressive picture!  Having said that, I have lost a bit of respect for you...

I mean..  All of those kettles and only ONE SJ???  GASP!!!

(SJs are my favorite in case you can't tell by my profile pic)

BTW... I am using your pic and harbor's pics to "reinstate" myself via email with the extended family.  We had about a dozen of them over this weekend for some pulled pork.  They saw a small handful of full-sized kettles in my garage and one of them commented with a disturbed look, "Why do you need so many grills??"   :o   Then another one goes, "Well look over there (and points to the long shelf of multi-colored SJs) he's got even more!"    ::)

It was a modern-day witch hunt I tell ya...   Of course, they all shut up when 3 pork-butts came off the WSM.

And..... it's the same thing with the wife.  She quit complaining about my Weber purchases after the first time we had a 'low-and-slow' cook.   8)

Awesome shot Brian... It's the who's who of vintage kettles
I've been meaning to do a family photo for ages, but every time I start setting them up , my ears start burning from the neighbours talking about the creepy guy next down
Her- Hey John, come and have a look at what he's doing now!
Him- Holy Shit!!! I knew he had a few, but that guy needs an intervention!
Or then there's the sneaky pic my wife takes so she can post how much of a problem her husband has or bring it out when friends are over , so they can all have a good laugh
Unfortunately your pic won't help me much, she'll just roll her eyes and say ' well your not far behind him'
Anyway it's all good, water of a ducks back as they say

I'll try and get a new family photo...its been at least 2 years since the last one.  I think I have a couple more...

I am curious as to why the manufacturer of wood handles can have grills without handles and with handles in poor condition????
Title: Re: Well it was a hell of a summer....

He's gotta sell every handle he makes to buy more grills - a classic sign of an addict!

It's true, I have to fill all your guys orders at the expense of my own grills.  Plus there are a few people here, no names mentioned (Terry) that trade me grills and they have no handles on them at all, conveniently spirited away.....In due time they will get what the are due.   Oh and one of the red heads I pulled a handle off to give to a friend of mine. It was a true resurrection project, the one i got from the back of a scrappers truck.  I was short a handle and I put it on her grill, she was happy.  Plus there is really no shortage of grills, if one doesn't have a handle, there's another one to use....

You love it! I buy handle from ya, put them on the grill, and then trade the grill you down the line!! Why clutter up your house with more handles  ;D.  Your wife appreciates it.

That's overwhelmingly epic! You almost need one of those color spinners from the game Twister to help choose. I would go into an ADD panic

Did that Seville come with the kettle or did you find one?

That Seville is one that Weber sold direct.  The kettle is the one that came with it.  It is a unique kettle to that cart....no leg sockets and "L" brackets
