Guys I need some input here. Making over a performer that I picked up for $10
Made a pallet wood top and repainted the parts I’m using and dropping in my LE red head. So here is my question I have a palm sander and the pallet planked I used are up even. I was going to keep it like that but got the idea of sanding it flat or kinda flat I kinda like the uneven look but didn’t want sharp edges. Well what should I use to sand this bad boy the palm sander is doing the job but lots of paper to round these boards.
Think if a belt sander or do I use my dermal with a wood sanding bit to round my edges flat then sand with the palm?
Then the stain
I want a darker look . I want it high gloss so after the stain a few layers of ploy gloss for sure but what colors u think go good with black and red

Looks great!
I'd probably use a planer to get the top to a even surface then do a final pass with the sander.
-
Are you trying to round the edge of each board
or the perimeter of the whole table top?
Either way a sander is not the tool to use.
A router with an 1/8 or 1/4" roundover bit would knock
it out in a single pass.
Then follow up with the sander for the final touch.

If you dont own a planer and dont want to buy one..you already have the solution...sander and lots of dust.
Get some 60/80 grit for heavy removal first passes is what i would do
I wouldnt buy a planer just for this project..but if you have other uses...
-
Id take another half hr to cut out piecea to toe nail in triangular bits to fill in the gaps at the end unless you have those gaps there for a reason.
Try polyshades if you wana save a step in staining..its AIO stain and poly

Thanks guys I didn’t have a planer but forgot I had an angle grinder and flap discs got it the a smooth finishing for me with 36 and 60 grit I got an 80 and 120 then palm sanding higher ones. Decided after doing it for some time it was easy to add texture with the grinder and had fun doing it

I didn't think I would like the black stain when you mentioned it, but it actually looks really good black, I bet once you get a good coat of poly it will look even better
-
She’s mounted just waiting for the 1st layer of poly to dry so I can sand and apply another coat

Did you just add LED lighting to your grill?
Is this going to be the new thing grill modders do? I mean it happened to cars...
Nice set up!
-
A little under-glow!
-
I like it! I might have to put some LEDs under my performer now
