Title: Finished the restoration on the yellow 18.5
Post by: AZ Monsoon on December 17, 2015, 05:20:58 PM
Finished the restoration on the yellow 18.5 tonight. Props to Zavod for the handle and white wall decals. This was your typical pickup (other than the color). Neglected, but pretty solid otherwise. I'm almost afraid to cook on it..... Almost :)

A little in-action YouTube Video with some Johnny Cash and the fade

Had to go with the fade for the 1st pic

Wow!!!
Great find, even better clean up...okay maybe better find. No, restore is out of this world, that mirror finish on the pan is incredible.

That first shot of the color shift just makes me want a yellow even more!

I would eventually cook on it...but after an impressive shine-up like that I would leave it in show mode for a time.

Thanks guys. Yeah, we can talk about that ash pan - it's a real son of a bitch though. With the way Ebay prices have been going maybe I should throw it up on there........Nah

You've really raised the bar on that ash pan. I'm gonna have to break out the clay bars & the Milwaukee w/9" polishing wheel. Sh!t just got real!!!

Don't forget the bacon!  This time not for rest prevention or polishing....this times it for you to eat.  You are going to need some protein for the number of hours you will be working to get this kind of shine!

Plan sounds good in theory. Unfortunately, the reality is that my daughters would eat the bacon as fast as I made it. So, I'd be lucky to get two slices & I'd lose 45 mins. of polishing time. I would have a fresh batch of gelatinous gold for rust prevention & homemade lube though.
