Well, this time it was 10 twentysomethings, who are living "on the road" in finest Jack Kerouac style.....

And the dawg there, who ate like a horse & me & Ma & our two dawgs....So.......12, Plus three & the little dawg in the photo was adopted while they were here...
Sent them off w/ two full size hotel pans of leftovers & were eating for 4~5 days & some pulled pork for the freezer to go in the next round of beans......

Once a month I do a thing at my friends place for up to 55 / 60 ppl.

Did a cookup for a friends or relatives' Memorial service 6 times this summer ( incl. all 4 weekends in July )

This many kettles lying around, may as well FIRE UP !!!!!

Looks like a hungry bunch.  Great reason to fire up the cookers!

Wow that's hardcore....It's really awesome you do that.  It's cool having a good reason to fire up all those Webers.  Tell me more about those gypsies?  Do you know them,  or did you find them somehow and invited them to dinner?  Oh and I love the look of your well used Webers.

Wife's youngest son & his travelling partners...Bluegrass band....One of the gals sings like a dang mockingbird.....
Came, feasted, played & sang for their supper stayed a day & off down the road........

For me, this was a small ( but yes, very hungry !! )  group.....

I've cooked for 150 by myself, bunch of kettles.....

My dad passed away in May & his memorial was 75 people, across town at my brother's place.
A small part of this was done on dad's old red metal handle (not sure what year !? )

Very cool....please keep us updated on these megacooks.  I'm fascinated...Sorry to hear about your Dad.  Maybe cooking on his old kettle for his memorial helped keep you get through those tough days...

I'll bet if you take photos the guys here can tell you what year it is or at least bracket you in to a year range.  They know EVERYTHING about these kettles.

Thanks for that, bama.....
I think it's an '81.... just that that one stays at my brother's house & I don't have it right in front of me to check......

He & I were both very aware that Dad's old kettle would be a part of the configuration......

I don't have so much of a tough time with all of it, but have found it really helps A LOT of other people to come together & "break bread" under those circumstances..... :)

This is the thing that's just stupendous about the Weber kettle ~~~>
You can set up 9 different ones to cook 9 different things, all at once......
It's actually MUCH easier to keep track of than most people think.....
And, if there's anywhere I could say that & have it understood, I would think it would be here !!!

Again, not to be pimpin' the 'Ring, but I could post the links from "The Smoke Ring" to several of the cooks, they're pretty extensive to re-construct here....OK idea?

Dad's deal was one of seven memorials this summer, some of them are compounded together, if I remember.....
