Kettle Hero
« on: October 10, 2013, 03:31:43 PM »
...just a couple of years ago, my friend Aaron moved in a few doors down.  Several weeks later, he picked up a Charbroil gasser... I tried not to hold it against him, but gently introduced him to the world of charcoal cooking on Webers.  Now he's got an SS, a red Mastertouch, an SJ, and an 18.5 WSM.

This week he's moving to Texas, which is really sad.  But the thing that nearly brought tears to my eyes today was seeing that he had fit all of those grills into the moving truck, plus 500 pounds of charcoal.  The only thing he didn't fit on the truck?  His piano.  The truck just wouldn't hold anything else.

That's right:  he brought the grills, and the charcoal, and left the piano.

...we raise up these kettle-heads, and then they grow up and make us so very proud.

Now that's a real grill fella. Proud of you Mike. I'm trying to carefully spread the weber gospel as well. No question the piano would be left behind. Those are easy to find anywhere.

That is awesome!

I'm regretting leaving some of my collection behind. I'm doing what I can to get it back though :)

Glad to see you posting Mike :)

Cooking on a weber is an art of another form.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Dang, 500# of charcoal? He should have just gave it to you and bought new charcoal. It would probably cost the same to ship! Anyways, best of luck to his move. Maybe when he comes back to visit ya he can tell ya about how his bbq automatically became "real" in Texas. :)

I'm not sure if he's a member, but he's a lurker for sure.  Hopefully this will smoke him out.

Sorry to see a grillfella of yours move, you taught him well for sure. Now you have an agent in Texas and a place to crash on vacation. He's got the right idea leaving that piano behind!

Thanks for sharing Mike. He will be fine, there is a lot of Weber piano's that that show up on CL for cheap. I'm sure other brands are cheaper...

UPDATE:  my young apprentice left behind the gas grill, too.
