Capitola Cooki'n!
« on: August 30, 2013, 12:29:59 PM »
I finally got away for a few days and thought I would post the spoils from it.

Day one. I got there at around eight pm and stoned a pizza.

Day two; Egg McDukes formerly known as Egg McBobs.  ;)

Then basil sausage for Yunch.

Beach shots.

Fresh king salmon and fresh albacore.

Day Three; Cornish Hens

Day four; Stuffed clams for lunch and more salmon accompanied by lobster tails for dinner.

Seafood looks and tastes best on a blue grill for some reason? 8)

Then we washed it all down with a cinnamon streusel I made while relaxing in the hot tub. :)

Thanks again my friend. :D

By the way, it looks like all I did was cook, but I did a ton of walking and had lots of beach time. This weekend is the annual Begonia Festival that happens every year. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out. begoniafestival.com

Have a happy Labor Day everyone! :)

You know, we may have to rescue that little blue. Looks like it needs a little help    ;)

Cooks look good!

Where do you stay?

We're gonna be in a house on Pleasure Point (yup, named that for a reason   ;) ) in Oct.

Dude, relax your chicken.

That all looks great! Love NorCal beaches except the icy cold water part. The wife loves Begonias...hmmm I should conspire next summers vacation around that.

Man ... you do it up right! Nicely done.  8)

I noticed that you use foil down on the indirect area of the charcoal grate. A buddy mentioned to me about doing this.
It obviously helps with clean-up, but it also deflects / directs more air flow towards the charcoal, making a more efficient cook.
I plan on doing this more now. Thanks.  :D

Can you explain the set up you have going on underneath?

Thanks, yeah I think it does. I also left the rear vent closed because it was getting pretty full of ash and I don't use a pan. Give it a shot.

Kendoll, you don't like fish eh?  :D

Yep......all on an 18......the "limited size kettle".........

........Good Show, mate !!!!!!!

I'm diggin' that possibly 60's tile job as your backdrop.....the wife could probably tell what year that stuff is.....she's knows stuff.......

Good eye regarding the tile, Ken!

Hey Duke ... was that kettle in an outdoor shower stall?
Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode of when Kramer prepared all his food whilst he was in the shower.  :o ;D ;D ;)

So you cook with just one front vent usually or just with the back vent unless its full of ash? I've been doing the single vent cooks (rear vent only) and I'm liking it so far.
