Has anyone else experienced very slow and slightly intermittent response times from the forum over the last 24 hours?

I suspect this is self inflicted, as it seems to be tied to a browser upgrade I just performed, but the response time issues have been confined to the WKC.

Doing some testing, the problem is specifically with posting/replying to messages. Very weird.

I've never seen an issue. Let us know if you can reproduce it.

Are we sure it's not an "ID 10 T" problem?? ;) :)

the database has grown large.

anytime there is an update (new posts, replies, edits) - the database gets locked so no other process or person can make changes.

these locks are slower than the reads. when there are several locks queued up, it slows things down.
at peak times, the lock times have been getting slower and slower.

i'm planning some database maintenance this week.
things should be resolved when I move to the new server - but I don't know if that will happen within the next month or not.
