Had my buddies over last night to do some pre planning for our September trip to the UP. On the menu were Caveman filets, scallops and baby red taters. We also had some fine DaVinci Chianti with dinner followed by cherry pie. It was a great night, however I almost lost the scallops. The grill was to cold so I quick transferred the grate scallops and all over to Homer which just finished the caveman steak, so he was really hot. Good move as they came out perfect. didn't get many food pics as things got a bit hectic and the booze was flowing good........:heh:

Pre party setup. Had to display the collection for the boys

Mr Green Jeans had tater and scallops duty. Homer was doing the caveman routine

A couple of the boys discussing Caveman. They just could not beleive how this is done

Here I am getting ready to throw on the steaks.

At the end of the night everybody was smiling and had nothing but accolades on the dinner. They were all in agreement that this was by far the best steak they ever had. the scallops came out perfect and the taters were a big hit. One guy called me a Farker, because now he has to buy a kettle to do caveman. He said I raised the bar so high I ruined him.......... ;D

Great job!  Caveman steaks have ruined traditional methods for me as well.

Any party that requires a leather helmet sounds like a good time.

Nice deck and patio!!  Those steaks are massive!!  How long did you cook them for?  Would have loved to see some plated pics of those.  What cut are those?  I'd like to go look for something like that in my store.
Kettle collector AND cooker!

Steaks were 8 oz choice cut tenderloin seasoned with Kosher salt and pepper. they are about 2 1/2" tall so about 4-5 minutes a side with two flips. Then roll on the sides. Added some homemade marrow and blue cheese butter and tented for 10 minutes...........Eat

I still haven't had the balls to try caveman yet. I'm a chicken-assed tightwad, I know.

Another nice cook, my man. We need to cook together.

I mean that.
