Participation here by founding members and others here has left me saddened........ Last cook posting for me is a Wild Fork Tri Tip - sous vide method for 7 hours at 130F then achieved an amazing crust over lump coals on the Summit.  The Summit is and will be my go to for most cooks going forward.  The journey here has been amazing, mass selloff this coming spring.  5 years of sheer enjoyment watching all the collections, restorations and cooks.... now has sadly dwindled to a few posts per month.  I wish you all the best!

I too am sad about the lack of posts here. I still look every day and hope there are some new finds, restorations, great cooks and there has been little to nothing. I hope that things will pick up with warm weather coming and interest will be rekindled. You have been a steady participant with lots of photos over the years. I hope you don't abandon the site as I have enjoyed your adventures in cooking, finding treasures and restorations. I am envious of the collection you have amassed in just a few short years. Some choice kettles and accessories. Hopefully your mass selloff this spring isn't the end. Thanks again. Great looking meal too!

I hate to hear that. I have always enjoyed and been inspired by your posts.

It is sad posts participation is down. At one point Bama was single-handedly keeping this site alive. I know many of us are above 50+ years of age and also have priorities and other hobbies currently getting attention.

This is true.

I've been kind of sidelined with mobility issues but now that I have 2 good knees again, I was hoping I could catch up
on my cleaning/restoration projects this summer and post the results of my Galley Que and Gourmet adventures, as well as other things (some inspired by Bama!). Sadly it seems there may not be anyone here to read them. LOL

I can't contribute much to the cooking posts because most of my grilling is done on the Genesis II - but I love to see the kettle cooks posted by others.

It seems like many people now prefer the Facebook groups to forums. I've seen several outdoor cooking forums fade
away in the last few years. I hope this one doesn't wind up like that. It makes me sad, but things change and time marches on.  :(

*By the way BamaKettles, that tri-tip looks wonderful!

Glad that you're healed up from the knee replacements. I look forward to seeing your results on the Galley Que and Gourmet. I'll still be here to read them as I don't use Facebook for anything. I always enjoyed seeing what others were doing here. I don't post too much and should try to do more. I just don't have an easy way to take and post photos of cooks, grills, etc. Don't have a smart phone to do all that with so have to wait until I download photos off of my camera and then resize them to post here. By then it seems too late to be pertinent.

Makes me wonder where all the people and grills went when they stopped visiting here. Hopefully more will return with stories to tell.

You'll be missed.
I think this has been brewing for some time.
Wherever you go, & whatever you do I wish you the very best of luck with it.
The door isn't locked shut after you close it behind you, just so you know I was a major member of  another forum & this there were changes both with me & with the forum so it became time to move on.
Recently things changed again & I revisited it.
It was "Welcome Back home, where the heck have you been"? day! ;D

Really do understand how you're feeling.  I don't belong to a lot of forums, but most of them are not seeing the traffic that they once did, and several of them have just, unexpectedly, closed down.

I have enjoyed reading about your cooks and have gotten some ideas from you as well.

Sad to see you go.  Still some old timers here checking daily.

What ? You're one of the best ! My biggest problem with participating has been the loss of the WKC iPhone app. I've tried using the website app and it just doesn't make sense to me when I get in the forums. Once I read something it disappeared. I just downloaded tapatalk and it's a little better. Bama, you have been the glue keeping this community together for a while. There's ups and downs in all our lives but you've been a constant through some hard times in my life. I just talked to a guy nearby named Danny and almost made a deal for a Caribbean. The dream is still out there. My collection is mostly newer but I'm always on the lookout for vintage. Bama, I hope you reconsider to stay. Also thanks to all the other members out there. I appreciate you also. It's just bama started this topic.

If I were a newcomer to this site I wouldn't even try, I would walk away because it's too inconsistent and hard to follow. I don't know how we can keep members and get new ones to stay. For me it was the iPhone app. Well, I'm rambling on now but I love this place, this hobby, you members, and especially Bama !

The door is always open @bamaketetles I've been lurking but not a lot of time to post or cook.  I started teaching high school Biology, and taking classes for my teaching credential. My daughter did get a chance to use her Christmas gift.  I didn't realize that GA grates would fit on the SJ.
