I figure i would ask opinions as there must be more than one hinge out there, so which do you like and can you still use the cover OK?
Thanks ahead of time for this info.

I recently restored three 18" WSM's for a competition cook, I added 3" dual locking casters and used the Char Griller Acorn kamado hinges, added quick release pins on them and while I didnt throw a cover on them the Acorn hinges are low profile and very inexpensive. Search my handle or scroll through this subforum as I posted a lot of pics here.

Ive installed a few Unknown BBQ hinges and Chinese knockoffs along with Hunsakers floating hinges. For myself I prefer Hunsakers Floating hinge and the Acorns for one handed operation. The Unknown hinge while excellent quality with the added height of a 22" WSM on casters or my 26" 85 gallon drum smoker its basically a two hand operation to unlock.
Which ever hinge you go with and especially if you use the waterpan consider a barrel lock. I like the Cajun Bandit barrel locks or no drill legsets, but if youre handy you can do compression latches and drill the shit outta the bullet to accomplish that.

Hope this helps Left Hand Smoke on fbook
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!
