First fireup for the Ranch in 2023: Pork Chops

This ended up happening for a bunch of different reasons.  A couple of football friends and I have been wanting to do a barbecue for a while and one of them needed a hand getting a new helmet adjusted, the weather was beautiful, there was a PC Points deal on pork so I stocked up on chops, and then I saw my work schedule and realized they'd all have to be cooked in one go.  This meant a 22 inch wasn't going to be big enough.  I don't have a 26 inch so going up a size means Ranch.  So here we go:

Freshly cut lawn and the Ranch is getting prepared.

I put together a potato spiral in a little dutch oven to bake in the oven while I got the other food ready as the Ranch lit up.

Two chimneys of Weber briquettes was the fuel for tonight's dinner.

The offending football helmet that needed adjustment.

We were able to get the helmet sorted out while the charcoal was still lighting.

I put two different rubs on the pork chops.  The four on the left have Blues Hogs Sweet and Savoury on them and the six on the right have Cape Herb and Spice Smoky BBQ and Grill on them.

After spending some time under the lid, the chops and garlic bread are almost done.

Dinner is ready.  I think this kicks off the Ranch and eating outside in the back yard for the 2023 season for sure.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Great looking cook. I am finishing up the cleanup on the vintage ranch I got last month. Looking forward to the first cook on it. Talked to the Amish butcher about getting a small goat to put on. He said no problem just let them know a day ahead and they will get one butchered and ready. Going on the rotisserie. Have a rack of ribs on the 22 inch for supper today.

Wow, thanks for all the more recent comments guys!  I didn't realize this thread got popular again in late June.  I haven't been around much since I posted it with life getting in the way, sometimes seriously.

Unfortunately, for all the same reasons I haven't been online much lately, this has been the only time the Ranch has been fired up so far in 2023.  I hope that'll change over the rest of the summer and the fall.  If it does, I'll make sure to post it.
