I've rehabed a few SSP.  Recently I did 2 that I installed new Manchester tanks.  The tanks are not available with the Quick Release valve anymore, they now come with an ACME valve installed.  If you buy a new reg for SSP from weber they come with ACME fittings.  You can also get the parts from many hardware stores to convert original hoses and regulators to ACME.

The bigger problem is that the tank sits too high in the tank holder and prevents the control panel from sitting correctly.

1/2" Poly pipe

This is what the modifications measured when complete.  Not as short as the original, but it still works.
