You don't need a template or to try & cut that oblong hole for the gas assist. if you take the assist apart & thread it through the inside of the bowl, then drill a round hole with a step drill bit.

I thought about that but I couldn't get the GA apart, plus I didn't want to make a hole the size it would have to be to make it accommodate the tube and keep the hole round.
