food network trick, bacon wrapping.

Pre-cook your bacon about 1/2 way in the oven or grill, then remove cool & wrap round the steak, or whatever.
Then cook as normal.
It gives a nice crispy texture not easily obtained on small cuts like Fillet Mignon.

Would this work well with cheap/lean cuts like round steak?

I've not tried it, but I don't see any reason why not.
All it does is shorten the cooking time needed to crisp the bacon.
