SNS?

Do you really need a SNS when my grill came with the Weber charcoal baskets? I used to just pile them up on one side the old school way before I got the Master Touch.

I dont like the baskets. I find the SnS works better. But I made mine. It's not stainless but it was 20bucks vs 200

I did this.

and bought this for the indirect side

They fit like they were made for each other.

Best $70 (basic) or $100 (deluxe - water trough removable and ventilated bottom plate) you'll spend IMO.  I have both versions for my 22s and a 26" version.  I use them all the time.  I do use the Weber baskets though for rotisserie cooks.

I wish. To get one in Canada is super expensive.  Or at least it was when I was looking.

SNS Grills often run specials such as 10 or 15% off, just have to sign up for their emails.  I don’t think I’ve bought much there at full price unless it was a reservation type order.  Also free shipping in the lower 48 for orders over $50.

For my vintage colored kettles, I very much appreciate the perfectly contoured design of the SnS which both protects the porcelain and maximizes 2-zone cooking space.

Essential? No, but I use one every time a colorful kettle comes out to play.  I’m really looking forward to a reissue of the SnS LP to get my Aristocrat and Chief into rotation.  But as much as I appreciate their 18” version in SS, it did not imitate the same perfect contoured fit to the bowl like the 22 and 26 versions.

Agreed, 100%.  I still have it and use it, but it seemed more rushed.  I wish it had the contour of the 22 and 26 versions.

IMO even though I’ve never owned a sns, the old charcoal rails are my favorite way to indirect. I do not like the baskets. Not enough air flow.

I also don’t like that it uses up 1/2 the usable grate space.  I use one Weber charcoal basket for most 18 cooks.  I use the SnS charcoal basket for 18 lns cooks when I need more coal capacity.
