Beans in the basement,
Ribs on the main floor,
And turds in the loft.

This was my first time using the elevated level. Had some learning to do. The lid hook was in the way for 1 turd.
Also, the turds in the middle of the rack did not cook as fast. Had to move a few around part way through. Not a big deal.

Turds coming off.

I took the beans out early. I find it improves the airflow for the ribs as they finish off. Besides, there was plenty of drippings in the pan. :)
I cooked these ribs longer than normal, as, I find most people like a "fall-off-the-bone" rib.
Everyone loved these ribs!

Thanks, Ken! Last fall, I picked up a used non-Weber POS kettle for $10. Came with 3 cooking grates, one was 18".
The bowl and lid were in good shape, so I donated them. The legs got tossed, as they were rusty.
Decided to weld 3 legs to the 18" grate. I liked your extra cooking rack - you know the pic ... with all the turds on both levels.
Just more 1buckie inspiration.  :D ;)

Maybe I missed it -- I see foil over the earliest coals and later it's not. This was to prevent fat from hitting coals? How did they burn correctly (and without burning through the foil?)
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I use HD foil to prevent any flare-ups, and the fat from hitting the un-lit charcoal.
My thinking for this is that maybe the charcoal won't lite-up if it's too saturated with drippings, slowing down, or stopping the fuse.

Once the rib racks had shrunk, and were not over the coals, I removed the foil for the final stages ... last hour , maybe a bit longer.

The charcoal continues to burn under the foil. No, it does not burn through the foil.
This method works great! I recommend it.  :D

One other reason ... I can fit more on the grate without fear of charring the food.

Fantastic! I love when I see that much great food on a regular 22 done so nicely. Maybe we need a contest to see how much food we can fit in a 22.5 like they used to do wen they stuffed people into VW's.
