Does anyone use a Hunsaker Vortex on their WSM? I am strongly considering getting one, but I want to get more information before I do.

I have the Hunsaker plates (22/18 )and the actual Vortex basket. They work the same. Try the search function as you will probably find some reviews/opinions on this site. There are a few threads on it.

That said...I like them.

Thanks for the information.

This morning I placed a order for the Hunsaker WSM Vortex Plate for my WSM 18" "Classic" and will advise how it works-out with my Gateway Rib Hanger Kit in enhancing control of temperature.

Now that j got the garage cleaned out I think I might buy a hunk of steel and try to make one. Probably cheaper to just buy one, but I like making stuff

I compete with Hunsaker Smokers and have a 22" WSM mounted on a SSP
so I'm not using the bullet bowl, because I have a Happy Cooker internal ash pan above the bottom vents and a Hunsakers Vortex Firebasket above it. It mimics the bottom intake like the drums. I can set the one touch vents @25% and run 275* and 50% 350*+
My drums are tighter than the WSM and I prefer using them, but that's just me. If you're into hot n fast it's the way to go
