So my wife asked me to build one of those "squirrel picnic tables" that seem to be sweeping the stay-at-home nation these days. (Our kids have named the fence in our backyard the "Squirrel Highway," and we're constantly finding peanut shells that somebody around here is feeding them.)

I figured, if those squirrels were gonna have a picnic, they'll need a place to grill as well, right?

The only black paint I had laying around was high-temp. (Go figure, right?) So if the squirrels (or we) ever decide to actually fire it up, it'll turn out some awesome seared steaks! Offset smoking might be a little tough.

I foresee a great photo op with a squirrel beside that kettle

You have my wife's approval!  She has a $50 a month habit feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits.  Also had a groundhog last year.... but anything she wants in that respect and she says anything I want with my grills so we're both happy!

This sounds VERY familiar. (Although, $50/month‽ seriously‽ You must have a wildlife refuge going in your yard.)

That is cool, a grate way to relax doing something like this.

HA!! Love that! I confess that we also have a makeshift squirrel feeding zone in our back yard. Was supposed to be for birds, which it is, but a couple squirrels are incredibly athletic and can jump from the ground onto the feeders. Our other squirrel shields are rendered useless. It's actually pretty funny - ya can't stop nature I guess. Anyhoo - the wife gives you a thumbs up for the effort!!
Wife: Let me guess... you want to grill again

I just put some sunflower seeds in the little grill. Hopefully we'll see some traffic today.

I've got that big screw sticking out so we can attach an ear of corn once that's in season. What the heck else so squirrels like? I assume pretty much any kind of nuts? Any advice here is appreciated.

Pretty much anything nut related. I've seen ears of corn with peanut butter on them. Bigger seeds are always good for squirrels. The seeds in the grill bowl will be gone in about 15 minutes once the squirrels find it!

This guy's gonna be something in next year's dunk contest.
