I picked up a NOS rotisserie 9890 from a local ACE hardware. Looking forward to some rotisserie meats!

It could be just old grease inside the gears that has dried and hardened up.
I have saved several vintage rotisserie motor assemblies by simply cleaning out the old grease and relubricating them. Or maybe the store will just swap the motor out of a newer kit for you.

The ACE had 2 more units on the shelf. I'm going to swap it with another one that I hope works. If not, I'll try one of your suggestions. Thanks!

Just to circle back, I did get a replacement rotisserie from the ACE store. Tested it out before leaving the store and it works. Both were stamped 06/02 on the motor so it's very period correct for the grill
