Ah, I forgot, yes, my "nephew" was there.

No problems with the 22 sliding around when sitting on the 18 - as long as I don't hang the lid on it

Late to the party here... Happy Birthday! So 'splain to me the purpose of the 22 sitting in the 18...? Got me on that one...

@1spacemanspiff go for it. I enjoy Q'n and grillin', so that's what I wanted to do. Had a blast, I mean, Had a Grate Time.

My 1822 smoker.

A WSM is overkill for me as my smoking duties are usually limited to 3# butts, a couple racks of ribs, and now chuck roasts, using snakes - burning Right to Left for pork, Left to Right for beef.

Got the idea from a couple of other members here.

Had a B code 18 that was gifted to me, and a '78 WW picked up for free. Popped the vents and sockets off of the 22.

I can fit three racks of ribs comfortably on the grate, and an 18" cooking grate will fit below the 22" grate in the 22 if additional room is needed. Plenty of room for smoking, for me anyway.

The snake runs just fine on the 18 charcoal grate.

I have an old metal rod garden pot stand to place the 22 on if I need to access the 18. Could technically use another 18 or 22 - "But honey, I needed to buy that grill to hold my other one!"

The 18 is still usable as a grill.

As a California smoker  :o  the bit of leakage I see between the 18 and 22 doesn't really affect me, but I'm thinking of adding a gasket just to make it even better.
