Hottest briquettes?

I've always cooked on Weber coals but lately, they're almost impossible to find in Charlotte. I've been using KBB but they don't get nearly as hot. Gonna do a big fillet (steak) cook next weekend at the beach with the boys and looking for suggestions on the hottest burning coals out there. Someone told my wife there is a big green egg brand of coals that a lot of people like?  Any suggestions?

I don't use them anymore, but Kingsford Professional seems to get "hotter" than any briquette I've tried. They burn up too quickly for my liking, but if you're searing a few steaks its fine.

I freaking love k pro. I get them at Costco. They burn up faster than most but still last a good long while. I ran 6-7 hours on one load in the smokenator on the 26 at 300ish degrees. They light faster burn hotter burn faster.

I've been using Royal Oak All Natural from Walmart. Similar price and performance to K Pro but I've found the RO AN seems to last longer.

If you want hot, use lump.

I agree with you! Weber briquettes are not possible to find them anymore! Does anyone know what happen with them? Weber doesn't make them anymore?

I just bought a 20# bag of Weber at a local supermarket two days ago for $7.99 (regular price). Could not believe the bargain.

jakubwaligora

Where did you get it??? In North Carolina it's impossible to find!
