Live action tonight. Slow start between fielding work calls with chicken hands and trying to drink beer but it's going and I'm liking the new accessory. I found it at an ace for ten bucks and liked the design better than others I've seen.  I plan on cooking some other items on the grate.

Phase 2 of the cook. Some fresh peppers from the garden stuffed with cream cheese and Georgia peaches.

Not bad. The peppers were the star of the show.

Everything looks tasty! Cream cheese and Georgia peaches in the peppers, eh? Sounds like an unusual combination. Glad they turned out well!

It sounds unusual but they were a huge hit.

The chicken struggled a bit. If anyone tries this method, it works best to lay down a shallow ring of unlit followed by a ring of fully lit and don't start cook until you have visible flame 360 degrees around the vortex. That's how all of my previous successful times went. This time I started it a bit early without a well lit ring of fire. I pulled it at two hours and finished in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. I failed. It happens. But in the end it was still perfectly cooked. Just took too long.

When done correctly it should take no longer than 1.5 hours for a 5lb. Bird.

I like them in the basement, but it has always been in a 26, not overly thought out as I am not a smart man, a full as shit chimney of coals and whatever is left from the previous cook, spread as close to the outside of the grill as possible, close lid light up a good cigar and a beverage or 3 of choice and take a peak in an hour and 15 minutes
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Are you cooking the chicken in the vortex in the basement?

I will try it out in the 26". So far my best work has been in the 18 with this set up.

A good cigar and a beverage (or three) while you wait?! Amen! This is why I got a Kettle in the first place!
