My guess is that the "charcoal scooper" came free with the purchase of a big bag of dog food or something.

My guess is, that's a good guess! Since I don't have a big dog, I don't buy big bags of feed and have never seen one of those before...

Those scoopers are included on some of grills sold overseas.  According to the manual, it's also used as charcoal measuring cup....unlike over here in which we tend to base the amount of charcoal with a chimney.

oh... news to me! I thought every grill sold in the world had 1 of those in the box
Almost every Weber kettle sold here in Europe has one in the box... even a smokey joe comes with one here.  I have never had a Go Anywhere new in the box so I'm not sure about that model.
