First Ribs on the Kettle
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:26:05 PM »
Thanks for the advice earlier in the week.  Here's what I did and how they turned out.

Rubbed and ready...

On the grill this morning

Halfway through I rotated them 180*

Finished and resting

Sliced and ready to eat.  Not a bad smoke ring.

I was quite happy with them for a first attempt.  Thanks for looking!   ;)
I love the smell of wood smoke and cooking meat...

Thanks.  No, I didn't wrap them. I like them sans sauce and it seems like wrapping them would mess with the crust from the rub.  I just them on and let them go.  The temps held pretty steady, too.  Maybe a bit warmer than I wanted but the ribs turned out great.  I think I started with too much lit charcoal.  Surprise, surprise.  ;)

Most of the time it was around 300 or so.  It cooled down to 250, which is what I was shooting for, for the last hour they were on.  They were still pretty tasty so it's good to know that I can cook them a little hotter, and quicker, if necessary.
