So i picked up this redhead for free thinking it was a genesis. But upon some research i think its a spirit. Anyone know what the difference besides the size difference is between them? Everything inside looks the same.

Sure it's not a 1000?

We're Spirits made at that time?

Thinking early "Spirits" were actually Jr's (?)
Dude, relax your chicken.

From what i have searched of 1000s they dont have the bar in the middle of the lower frame like this. Im still googling. But there was a spirit 700 and 900.

It uses many of the parts from the Genesis Silver B/C series... mainly just the cookbox and lid size that is different

I believe @SixZeroFour is correct. I have the 1000 and was able to put a hood on it from the "Genesis silver B"
Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

Yea its just weird they would make 2 lines of gas grill look identical for a few years. The plastic tables the spirit came with look kinda cool tho

Heyjude

On those older models, I always thought the spirits were 2 burners and Geni's were 3.
No casters, smaller overall size..  There were clearly models called spirit and genesis respectively.
But the quality was essentially the same. Unlike newer grills that have more obvious quality shortcomings.

I wonder if the smaller spirit firebox would help maintain heat being less area to keep hot

Heyjude

I think size is relative to the BTU's.. err vice versa.. Its a gas grill, does the bear in the woods really care?

They made a Spirit 500 which was 2 burners, the 700 which you have and a 900 which were 3 burners.  It was their first foray into 5 bar grills only made those for a few years.  They still made the Genesis but the Spirit was a lower price point looks like a nice one you have there.

On the other board a member added casters, think he cut about 3/4 off the legs and just plugged the casters in.

I kinda like the no casters. I always lift them up to move them quicker anyways.
