Any tips would be appreciated. Took me 15 minuets for that small part.

What are you using?
Hand or power?

Mothers aluminum polish and a lambswool bonnet
on an angle grinder mounted in a vise is the way I'd go.

On further thought, go to Walmart and pick
up a Mothers Powerball and polish.
Chuck it into your drill and have at it.

weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/polished-ash-ring/ Is the best thread here for polishing the aluminum. Generally you'll want to hit it with a progression of sandpaper/abrasives to get it smooth before you use polish on it.

Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

Ok, the sandpaper makes a lot of sense.
Hadn't thought about that.
When you polish wheels you're already at the smooth metal stage.

Flitz metal polish works, can get it in a quart can or spray, I think it is from Colorado, I have always gotten mine from the State Fair here in Mn.
