Hangin' out with some wings.

Not a fan of grate marks on chicken so hanging is a great alternative.

All done. Juicy with crispy skin.

I’ve never noticed grill marks using my vortex.

You can put a bunch in a few cheap rotisserie baskets and hang those. You can cook a ton that way.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

I use a 22 WSM with a gateway rack. You can hook the rotisserie baskets with a stock gateway hook or a PBC hook and hang the baskets off the hanging rack. Of course you could use anything to hang them off the rack as long as it won’t burn, melt or give off nasty chemicals. Ive hung ribs with hooks, kabobs with PBC skewers and excess kabobs and poppers in a rotisserie basket all at the same time. Hanging is great because you don’t have to worry about drippings hitting other foods and you can space out when you add and remove food to the cook without removing grates. Loose foods that don’t skewers well are ideal for the baskets. Even fish I suppose though I don’t want fish oils in my WSM. Maybe if I get another.

Here’s a pick with the basket and skewers in action.

A basket is not necessarily the best choice for hanging wings since they tend to get crowded up. If i have to cook a large amount of wings, i just fill up 2 cooking grates. With a proper heat shield/diffuser, it doesn't require turning or moving the wings throughput the cook duration.
