Best Setup for Vegetable Basket and Reverse Sear Steaks?

What do you think the easiest setup would be to cook a vegetable basket followed by reverse sear steaks?

I was thinking full weber charcoal bins both in the middle for the veggie basket (weber basket) and then put the bins both together off to the side for indirect for the steaks until I'm ready to sear.

I'm thinking it might be hard to lower the temp for the reverse sear once I have everything cranking for the vegetables though.

Suggestions welcome!

No one has any thoughts on this? The real question is how to have the heat for the veggies and lose the heat for the reverse sear.

If you search for a post called Marty's bigger better basket you will find instructions to make one of these. I use this all the time for reverse searing steaks. It allows you to put your vegetables down the middle of the grill your steaks on the far side away from the coals until they reach your desired temperature before throwing them directly over the blazing hot coals. Works great and only cost about 15 bucks to make. A poor man's slow and sear minus the water reservoir.

Personally I would just setup for direct/indirect and cook your steaks...Will still be plenty of coals left to cook your veggies while the steaks rest...

I'm coming to charcoal from years of gas grilling.

So you think indirect the steaks, build up the sear coals and then put the veggie basket on top?

That will work.  I was thinking about it the other way around because my grates are the cleanest when I'm first starting out, but this charcoal thing is a lot different :).

Thanks!

I usually just do my sides when the meat is done and resting in the house...But that's just me...Others have their own methods that work as well I'm sure...

I use the even poorer mans slow n sear. Nothing at all.
