Hi folks, need some ideas here. How does one mount this to the end of a square tube? Is there some kind of expanding anchor I could use?

Um, how did you get the height to match?

You gonna chop & channel that SS Perfomer too?

How 'bout headers for the exhaust?

Make sure you use hi-heat primer !!!

There's specialty cabinet hardware places I've found online that may have something for that....I'll look back, as I've got stuff for other projects before.........

Failing that, you could get square wood, near to size, shave it down to fit, insert, drill @ slightly less than the thread size twist it in.....just make sure you screw straight..... 8)

"Adapts to either round or square tubing"

"Medium Duty Swivel Expanding Stem "

Not exactly sure how they expand, but I guess they do....... 8)

There's other places also, if this doesn't fly......

The tubes there now use plastci inserts, so the only way I could think of would be to have someone weld in a small slug with a drilled hole, then weld a nut in place to hold the caster. Personally, I just ordered the $6 replacements from Weber.

Thanks, Buckie. Those look like rubber expansion bushings that expand when compressed.

Ill figure it out. I don't have the casters yet so I don't know how much to chop. Or even if I have to.

Why not go Stock Weber? Cheaper, Faster, classic.. How much rolling around do you plan to do with it?  8)

Just for fun, really.  :D  I'm obviously not trying to make this easier or cheaper for myself. I have to roll the performer around the building everytime I use it and the stock casters are really dinky. I guess it's just the engineer in me needing to mess with something.

I figured that was what was happening. I can think of a number of ways to accomplish what you want. Most are more work than I would want to do, but I only have to roll mine a couple feet at a time. The need inspires invention.. Say it Buckie.. "Now there's a tagline". AJ

Slight update: I was able to find these star nut plug contraptions that will be perfect for the 1 1/4" tube frame

They use a grip ring connector that plugs and latches instead of a threaded connection. I ordered these and some casters that shipped today. 8)
